Approximately 50 children are currently rehearsing for Rising Stars Children’s Theatre’s upcoming production of “Once On This Island.”

Mike Redding, executive director of Harborfest, has announced that Starship with Mickey Thomas will be the featured artist during the opening ceremonies for Harborfest 2008.

With a role in a new comedy series being launched by Sony Pictures Television, a spot in an upcoming Columbia Pictures feature film and his own Comedy Central special scheduled to debut later this year, Oswego native Owen Benjamin has arrived as one of Hollywood’s hottest new comedic acts.

Oswego’s Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) will hold a Dinner Dance at SUNY Oswego’s Hewitt Union Ballroom, Sunday, from 5-9 p.m. Dinner will be served at 5 p.m., and music will begin at 6 p.m.

The Cinema and Screen Studies Program at SUNY Oswego is still in its infancy. Despite this, one of the students in the program has produced the school’s longest film to date — a 40-minute horror movie titled “Eidolon.”

The romantic, tragic story of Anne Boleyn and her deadly yet fruitful relationship with Henry Tudor, also known as King Henry VIII, is regularly retold — typically in mini-series format and with particular emphasis placed on Anne’s victimhood. “The Other Boleyn Girl,” based on the best-selling novel by Philippa Gregory, assumes a broader perspective and asks the audience to root out its own judgment of Anne’s character.

Eighty-plus people ventured through ice and snow, Saturday evening, to see the one-time art collective The Dreamt House show at the Knights of Columbus in Oswego.

This Saturday, local artists of every kind invite the greater Oswego community to a one-time art collective event called “The Dreamt House” at  the Knights of Columbus, located on West Bridge Street in Oswego.

“Vantage Point,” the big screen debut for director Pete Travis, makes a stab at linking current events with existential philosophy — in particular that reality is dictated by perspective.
